Morston Quay and marshes are a classic slice of north Norfolk — tidal creeks winding through the salt marsh, little boats moored in the channels, and the open expanse of the coast beyond. It's a gorgeous spot for an evening shoot, full of natural leading lines and foreground interest, with the kind of huge skies that make this coastline so special. We'll work the creeks and boats as the light goes golden and the tide does its thing. A relaxed, friendly walk suitable for all levels — I'll be alongside you helping however you need.

Hunstanton's red and white striped cliffs are unique in Norfolk, and as the only properly west-facing stretch of this coast, they're made for sunset photography. We'll work the dramatic layers and textures of the cliffs, the rock pools and sea-carved foregrounds at their base, and the colour in the western sky as the sun drops over The Wash. There's real variety here for compositions, and the light can be spectacular. A relaxed evening session suitable for all levels, with plenty of help on hand.

Photography Opportunities:

This is one of the most extraordinary natural events in Britain, and the timing on this evening is perfect. As a very high spring tide pushes in across The Wash, tens of thousands of knot, oystercatchers and dunlin are forced off the mudflats and take to the air at once — a swirling, shape-shifting spectacle that's been likened to a starling murmuration on a vast scale. We'll photograph the whirling flocks as the tide drives them in, then turn to the lagoons and sky for golden-hour landscapes as the sun sets. A genuinely rare combination of wildlife and landscape photography in one magical evening. Some prior camera knowledge is useful as we'll be working with fast movement and changing light.

The weathered timber sea defences at Happisburgh are a long exposure photographer's dream — rows of groynes marching out to sea, full of texture, decay and leading lines. On this day we'll use long exposure techniques to smooth the water and skies into something atmospheric and timeless. I'll guide you through filter use (full Kase set available to try), exposure timing and composition, helping you come away with images that have real mood and impact. What to expect from our evening photography walks

My photo walks combine street photography, long exposures, architecture, cityscapes, nightscapes, and light trails from just before sunset and into the early evening light, all with a fun and social atmosphere.

For just £20 per walk, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, social setting where everyone, including me, will be shooting. This is perfect for photographers with a basic understanding of manual camera settings, through to those looking to refine their skills alongside like-minded people.

Throughout the evening, we’ll discuss various techniques while photographing subjects such as architecture, cityscapes, nightscapes, reflections, light trails, and the changing light across Norwich.

Expect great conversation, laughter, the occasional grumpy security guard, and the chance to improve your photography in a casual environment, all whilst we hopefully get a lovely sunset to photograph over the city from one of the elevated vantage points.

Each session runs from 6:45 pm to around 9:30 pm, starting and finishing at an easily accessible public location within Norwich city centre.

A long weekend on the Norfolk coast, just 3 guests, one van, and some of the county's most striking and ever-changing scenery.

This is a residential photography weekend exploring the Norfolk coast at its most characterful, traditional seaside villages, wide sandy beaches and the dramatic, eroding coastline at Happisburgh, one of the most photographed and talked-about stretches of coast in the country. From sweeping dunes to Norfolk's much-loved piers, there's a genuinely rich mix of scenes packed into just a few days.

Just 3 places, and here's why

I keep this trip deliberately small. Three guests means everyone gets proper, personal attention, nobody's jostling for space at the good spots, and, practically, you all fit comfortably in my van, so I can chauffeur the group from location to location for the weekend. The van's kitted out too; there's 240V mains power on board, so if your batteries start running low you can top them straight back up, which is a real lifesaver for drone batteries especially, and I've got a camping stove in the back for tea and coffee, so there's always a hot brew on the go between shoots. No convoy, no getting lost, just turn up and shoot.

Who this trip is for

This one's a step up from my day workshops. It's for photographers who've got the basics under their belt, a working understanding of the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) and how to shoot in manual. If you're comfortable there, you're ready. Everything beyond that- composition, filters, long exposures, reading the conditions- is exactly what we'll build on together over the weekend.

Where we'll shoot

Norfolk's coastline is a brilliant mix of the dramatic and the picturesque. We'll spend time at Happisburgh, where the North Sea has been steadily reshaping the coast and created some genuinely striking, atmospheric scenes, alongside classic sandy beaches, rolling dunes and one of Norfolk's charming piers. Over the weekend we'll take in two main locations along with our sunrise and sunset sessions, giving you a properly varied set of images from just a few days on your doorstep.

A typical day

• Friday: Meet mid-afternoon at our first location, a sunset shoot to start things off, then check in at the accommodation followed by a dinner outing.

• Saturday: Up for a sunrise shoot, back to the accommodation for breakfast, then a full day of photography through to sunset, followed by a dinner outing.

• Sunday: One last sunrise shoot, breakfast back at the accommodation, check out, then a second location shoot before heading home mid-afternoon.

A friendly, unhurried pace throughout, with plenty of time to actually enjoy where you are.

Where you'll stay

You'll have your own private room in well-located accommodation, right in the heart of the area we're shooting. A light breakfast is provided each morning: cereal, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee, to set you up before a sunrise start. Lunches, dinners and snacks aren't included, which keeps the price down and the days flexible; we'll head out for dinner together on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

Getting there, the easy bit

This one's right on the doorstep if you're local, so if you're driving yourself, you'll simply meet us at our first location on the Friday afternoon. Coming from further afield? I'm based in Norwich and happy to arrange collection from Norwich train station or Norwich Airport; just let me know your travel details and we'll sort the timing between us.

A bit about me

I'm a full-time landscape photographer based in Norfolk, with a BA and a Master's degree in photography, and I've been running workshops since 2013. I'm a proud ambassador for five photography brands, I've won and been shortlisted for several awards, and my images have featured in publications and exhibitions. But honestly, what people tend to remember from these trips isn't the CV; it's the relaxed, no-pressure, no-egos atmosphere, and coming home with photographs they're genuinely proud of.

What about the weather?

Norfolk's coast can throw a real mix of conditions at us, and we'll head out and make the most of whatever we get. Some of our locations involve working on unpaved paths and near cliff edges, particularly at Happisburgh, so suitable footwear and all-weather clothing are essential. Safety always comes first, with dynamic risk assessments carried out throughout the weekend.

Join our Cantley Sugar Beet Factory night photo walk and enjoy a relaxed evening of low-light photography around one of Norfolk’s most atmospheric industrial locations.

We’ll meet near Cantley before taking a slow walk to explore views of the factory from the surrounding public areas. This is not a factory access workshop, but the location offers some brilliant opportunities for atmospheric industrial landscapes, steam, reflections, glowing lights, silhouettes, long exposures and the contrast between the working factory and the quiet Norfolk Broads landscape around it.

This location can look incredible at night, especially when the factory is active, and the steam is catching the light. We’ll spend the evening working with tripods, longer exposures, composition, reflections, mixed lighting and the challenges of photographing bright industrial lights against a dark sky.

What to expect from our evening photography walks

This photo walk combines night photography, industrial landscapes, long exposures, reflections and creative composition, all with a relaxed and social atmosphere.

For just £20, you’ll enjoy a small group setting where everyone, including the organisers, will be shooting. This is ideal for photographers with a basic understanding of manual camera settings, through to those looking to refine their low-light and long exposure photography alongside like-minded people.

Although not a structured workshop, throughout the evening, we’ll discuss different techniques while photographing subjects such as factory lights, steam, reflections on the water, silhouettes, glowing windows, night skies, and the wider Broads landscape.

We’ll look at exposure, white balance, focus in the dark, working safely with a tripod at night, and how to deal with very bright highlights without losing all the atmosphere in the scene.

The session will start at 7pm and finish around 9:30 pm, although we may stay a little longer if the conditions are looking especially good.

This is a residential landscape photography workshop through Snowdonia and Anglesey in late November, the season when the summer crowds have thinned, the light turns moody and cinematic, and the Welsh coast starts throwing everything it's got at you. Wave-battered sea stacks, mist rolling off the mountains, lighthouses standing firm against the weather. It's the kind of drama you simply don't get on a calm summer's evening.

And you won't be chasing it alone. With a group of just four, I'll be right beside you at every location, helping you read the light, find your composition and nail your settings, while I take care of everything else: the driving, the accommodation, the timings, the where and the when. You just bring your camera and your curiosity.

Just 4 places, and here's why

I keep these trips deliberately small. Four guests means everyone gets proper, personal attention, nobody's jostling for space at the good spots, and, practically, you all fit in my van, so I can chauffeur you from location to location for the entire workshop. The van's kitted out too: there's 240V mains power on board, so if your batteries start running low through the day you can top them straight back up, which is a real lifesaver for drone batteries especially, and I've got a camping stove in the back for tea and coffee, so there's always a hot brew on the go between shoots. No convoy, no getting lost, no white-knuckle drives down unfamiliar lanes at 5 am. You turn up, hop in, and shoot.

Who this trip is for

This one's a step up from my day workshops. It's for photographers who've got the basics under their belt, a working understanding of the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) and how to shoot in manual. If you're comfortable there, you're ready. Everything beyond that- composition, filters, long exposures, reading the conditions, editing back at base- is exactly what we'll build on together over the five days.

Where we'll shoot

Snowdonia and Anglesey are ridiculously good for landscape photography: dramatic mountains, sweeping valleys, abandoned slate quarries, rugged coastline, lighthouses and sea stacks, all within reach. Over the five days we'll work a mix of mountain and coastal locations. Likely spots include South Stack Lighthouse, the Trefor Sea Stacks and some of the classic Snowdonia viewpoints. Snowdonia still draws its share of hill walkers year-round, but late November is noticeably quieter than peak season, so we'll usually have more room to work, calmer conditions along the coast, and a more relaxed experience all round.

The exact locations flex with the conditions. My job is to put you in the best spot for the best light on the day, not to stick rigidly to a plan when something better is happening over the next ridge.

A typical day

• Monday: Arrive and check in, head out for a sunset shoot, then dinner together.

• Tuesday to Thursday: Up for sunrise, shooting the best locations through the day, back for breakfast or a stop en route, then out again through to sunset, with a relaxed evening meal option back at the accommodation. There's also the chance to sit down with a brew and go through your photos on the sofa if you fancy it. Nothing formal, just a relaxed bit of editing time if you'd like some pointers.

• Friday: One last sunrise shoot, then check out and head home.

Sunrise to sunset, we'll chase the light, but at a friendly, unhurried pace, with plenty of time to actually enjoy where you are.

Where you'll stay

You'll have your own private room in a comfortable private house, ideally located to keep driving distances short from sunrise to sunset rather than relying on a hotel miles from the locations. A light breakfast is provided each morning: cereal, toast and jam, orange juice, tea and coffee, to set you up before a sunrise start. Lunches and dinners aren't included, which keeps the price down and the days flexible. Most evenings we'll have the option to eat back at base to keep things relaxed and costs sensible, or head out if the group fancies it. We decide as we go.

Sharing? Two of you travelling together can book straight in using the double room option at checkout, no need to email.

Getting there, the easy bit

Coming from Norfolk?
You've got two easy options: meet at mine and leave your car (there's plenty of free parking on the road), or I'll pick you up in Norwich. Either way, you're then chauffeured there, back, and throughout the entire workshop in my van, which is fully insured and breakdown-covered for carrying you and the group. It genuinely takes the stress out of the whole thing: no long solo drive to somewhere unfamiliar, no navigating dark lanes before dawn. Prefer to make your own way and meet us there? That's absolutely fine too.

Let's be honest, it's North Wales in November, and the weather will play its part. That's the point. Wild waves, dramatic skies and fast-changing, atmospheric conditions are exactly what make these images special, and we'll get out and make the most of them. Wales is a big place, so there's always a Plan B and a Plan C. If one spot isn't working, we move to where it is. The only time we'll change tack completely is a genuine severe weather warning, where safety always comes first, with dynamic risk assessments throughout.

You'll want to be generally fit; the furthest walk from the van is around 40 minutes, with some uphill, though always at a slow, steady pace. Some locations involve uneven paths, coastal terrain and working near cliffs or exposed spots, so sturdy footwear and proper all-weather clothing are essential.

Starting before sunrise and running right through to golden hour, this is a full day out on Norfolk's East Coast, stopping at a handful of scenic spots along the way, from soft morning light to the last colour in the sky at sunset. It's not a formal, structured workshop; it's a relaxed, sociable day of shooting side by side, with me on hand throughout for tips, guidance and a helping hand with your settings whenever you want it.

Who this is for

All levels are genuinely welcome. Whether you're still getting to grips with your camera or you're comfortable shooting in manual and just fancy a full day out with like-minded photographers, this tour works for you. It's less about formal teaching and more about being out there together, chasing good light, with support close at hand whenever you need it.

Where we'll go

We'll be based somewhere along the coast between Cromer and Great Yarmouth, taking in a handful of Norfolk's best coastal spots over the course of the day, from first light through to sunset. The exact starting point is confirmed closer to the date, so I can build the day around the weather and give you the best conditions on the day itself, rather than sticking rigidly to a plan set weeks in advance.

The day

We meet at 6:45 am, ready to catch the very first light, and the day runs right through to sunset, roughly ten hours of shooting, moving between locations as the light changes. We'll stop along the way for breakfast and a midday meal (not included, so bring some cash or card for wherever we end up). It's a properly full day, so dress for changing conditions, cold in the morning, milder as the day goes on, and come prepared for plenty of walking.

Getting there, made easy

Happy to make this one simple for you: leave your car at mine, and I'll drive you for the day, dropping back at mine again once we're done. This lift option is limited to 3 passengers, so it's worth booking early if you'd like to take it up. Worth knowing too, it's a long day out, dawn to dusk, so plenty of guests prefer to drive themselves home directly from wherever we finish rather than loop back to collect a car. Totally your call, either works, just let me know your preference when you book so we can plan accordingly. If you'd rather make your own way to each location independently, that's absolutely fine too.

This is a winter sunrise session built around the tide, not just the clock. At Cobbold Point, the sea defences are wonderfully photogenic, and when the water's pushed right up beneath them just as the winter sun rises over the sea, the conditions can be genuinely spectacular. We'll work the defences, the reflections and the building dawn colour as the light comes up, and if the tide's high enough on the day, there's a good chance we'll head on to take a look at Pin Mill too.

Who this is for

All levels are welcome; this is an easy, sociable morning session rather than a formal teaching workshop, with support and guidance on hand throughout. You'll want to be reasonably steady on your feet though, more on that below.

Where we'll go

We're based at Cobbold Point in Felixstowe, working the sea defences as the tide pushes in and the winter sun comes up. Because the whole session is timed around the tide rather than a fixed clock time, the exact meeting time is confirmed once you've booked, so we catch the water at its best. If conditions and the tide allow, we may also head over to Pin Mill afterwards for a bit of variety.

The session

We run from around 7 am until midday, a focused morning session rather than a full day out, so there's no need to clear your whole Saturday. Exact start time depends on the tide and will be confirmed on booking.

Getting there

Felixstowe's a little further afield than my usual Norfolk coast locations, so it's worth planning your morning around that. You're welcome to leave your car at mine and travel with me for the session (limited to 3 passengers), which takes the stress out of an early, unfamiliar drive; just bear in mind it does add some extra travel time to the round trip given the distance. If you'd rather drive straight to Felixstowe yourself and meet us there, that's absolutely fine too.

Over the five days we'll explore a mix of well-known and quieter spots, likely locations include Hartland Quay, Bedruthan Steps, Trevose Head Lighthouse, Widemouth Bay, Sandymouth Bay, Duckpool, Crackington Haven and Boscastle, depending on conditions.

February is a genuinely fantastic time for coastal photography: low winter light, dramatic weather, far fewer people around, and the real chance of powerful, atmospheric seas. As always, exact locations are chosen around the weather, tides, wind direction and safety, not a fixed plan.

The Moray Coast offers a brilliant mix of seascape, landscape and characterful coastal locations, beaches, harbours, cliffs, sea stacks, lighthouses and smaller coastal details. Depending on the weather and how the week's shaping up, we may also head inland towards the Cairngorms and Dava Moor, opening things up to moorland, woodland, rivers and big mountain backdrops. One day will likely see us push further east along the coast towards Rattray Head Lighthouse, with the chance to take in one of the castles along the North Aberdeenshire coastline too, adding a different flavour again to the mix. It's this variety, coast, castle, mountain and moor, that makes the trip so rewarding.

March is a genuinely brilliant time for this part of Scotland, quieter locations, low light, changeable conditions and plenty of atmosphere. As always, exact locations are chosen around the weather, light, wind direction and road conditions, not a fixed plan.

Where you'll stay

You'll have your own private room in well-located accommodation, chosen to give us good access to the Moray Coast while keeping the Cairngorms, Dava Moor and the surrounding area within easy reach. A light breakfast is provided each morning: cereal, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee, to set you up before a sunrise start. Lunches and dinners aren't included, which keeps the price down and the days flexible. Most evenings we'll eat back at the accommodation to keep things relaxed and costs sensible, or head out if the group fancies it, we decide as we go.

Sharing? Two of you travelling together can book straight in using the Twin Room option at checkout, no need to email.

Getting there, the easy bit

Coming from Norfolk? You've got two easy options: meet at mine and leave your car, or I'll arrange transport from Norwich to the accommodation and back. Either way, during the main workshop days, Tuesday to Friday, you're chauffeured between locations in my van, with fuel included, so there's no need to drive yourself unless you'd rather. It genuinely takes the stress out of the whole thing: no long solo drive to somewhere unfamiliar, no navigating dark roads before dawn. Prefer to make your own way and meet us there? That's absolutely fine too, and you're still welcome to travel with the group throughout the workshop days.

A bit about me

I'm a full-time landscape photographer based in Norfolk, with a BA and a Master's degree in photography, and I've been running workshops since 2013. I'm a proud ambassador for five photography brands, I've won and been shortlisted for several awards, and my images have featured in publications and exhibitions. But honestly, what people tend to remember from these trips isn't the CV; it's the relaxed, no-pressure, no-egos atmosphere, and coming home with photographs they're genuinely proud of.

What about the weather?

Let's be honest, it's Scotland in March, and the weather will play its part. That's the point. Changeable skies, atmospheric light and the chance of rain, wind, cold conditions and even snow on higher ground are exactly what make these images special, and we'll get out and make the most of them. Between the coast and the mountains there's always another option if one spot isn't working, with locations chosen around the weather, light and road conditions as we go. Safety always comes first, with dynamic risk assessments throughout.

Fitness & what to expect

You'll want to be generally fit; the furthest walk from the van is around 40 minutes. Some locations involve uneven coastal paths, beaches, rocky terrain, woodland paths, moorland tracks and exposed spots, so sturdy footwear and proper all-weather clothing are essential.

DSLR or mirrorless camera, spare batteries and memory cards, a range of lenses (wide, mid and zoom), a sturdy tripod, lens cleaning kit, camera bag, warm waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear, umbrella, torch and a bath towel. I've got spare landscape filters you're welcome to borrow, and I'm happy to advise if you're thinking of buying your own.

Overview: Welcome to "Help with Capturing Norfolk," a comprehensive workshop designed to introduce you to the art of photography. Designed for beginners with a new DSLR/CSC camera looking to enhance their photography skills, this workshop will provide you with the foundational knowledge and practical techniques to capture the beauty of Norfolk. There is an option to book this session with a friend or as a group.

Location, Date, and Time: Choose a suitable date and time for the workshop after booking via email, sessions are currently being run at weekends and normally about a month in the future. Specify the area in Norfolk, UK at the same time too, I am happy to suggest a few locations if you wish

You will receive an email 2 days before the start date of the workshop, this is to confirm the starting location because we need to plan and amend finer details to accommodate the forever-changing UK weather. 

Cancellations

Over 2 weeks before the event, you will receive a full refund.

Within 2 weeks of the session start date, you will be offered another chance to book a date.

We reserve the right to cancel the workshop due to adverse weather. A full refund or booking onto the amended date will be offered in this case

Please also note

The locations we visit during the session may require the purchase of a car park ticket. Please make sure you have adequate change.

Please bring along food and drink, sensible footwear for walking on unpaved pathways and suitable clothing.

The session will require an adequate fitness level as we will be walking on unmade paths and coastal areas, as example, you will need to be able to carry your camera bag while walking for 20 minutes along the coast.

Camera insurance is not included in the price.

Don't forget to charge your batteries. Make sure that you have sufficient space on your memory cards for a day’s shooting.
