This residential landscape photography workshop explores one of the UK’s most dramatic stretches of coastline, where rugged cliffs, sea stacks, folded rock formations and wild beaches run from North Devon into North Cornwall. Based around Bude, we are well placed to work on both sides of the border.
February brings low winter light, big skies and powerful Atlantic seas. It is exactly the sort of weather that can produce atmospheric photographs.
I keep these trips deliberately small so everybody receives proper personal attention and has room to work at the best viewpoints. Four guests also fit comfortably in my five-seat van for travel between locations.
This trip suits photographers who understand the exposure triangle and are comfortable shooting in manual. We will build on that with composition, filters, long exposures, reading conditions and optional editing support back at the accommodation.

Likely locations include Hartland Quay, Bedruthan Steps, Trevose Head Lighthouse, Widemouth Bay, Sandymouth Bay, Duckpool, Crackington Haven and Boscastle. Exact locations will be chosen around weather, tides, wind direction and safety.
Monday: arrive and check in, followed by a sunset shoot.
Tuesday to Thursday: sunrise, breakfast and photography through the day until sunset, with breaks chosen around the conditions.
Friday: one final sunrise shoot before checking out and heading home.
The pace is friendly and unhurried, with time to enjoy the locations as well as photograph them.
You will have a private room in accommodation chosen for good access to both coastlines. A light breakfast of cereal, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee is provided each morning. Lunches, dinners, snacks and alcoholic drinks are not included.
One private-room place remains available online.
Transport between workshop locations and fuel are included in my five-seat van. A return lift from Norwich is available by prior arrangement; otherwise, meet us at the accommodation.

I am a full-time landscape photographer based in Norfolk, with a BA and a Master’s degree in Photography, and I have been running workshops since 2013. I work with PermaJet, Kase Filters, F-Stop Gear, Leofoto and South West Optics.
Expect rapidly changing winter weather, uneven coastal paths, beaches, rocky ground, cliff-top areas and exposed viewpoints. Suitable waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are essential. Locations will be adjusted when conditions require it, and safety always comes first.
You can pay in full or reserve your place with a £300 deposit through the website. The remaining balance will be charged automatically to the same card on 3 December 2026, 60 days before the trip starts.

Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera, spare batteries and memory cards, a useful range of lenses, a sturdy tripod, lens-cleaning kit, warm waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear, a torch and a bath towel. I have spare landscape filters available to borrow.
If you are not fully familiar with your camera, bring the manual or download it to your phone before travelling. Do not rely on having an internet connection while we are out.
