North Devon & North Cornwall Photography Workshop - Feb 2027
Dates: 1st - 5th February 2027
Price: £775 per person
A discount is available for two people who book together and share a twin room.
Deposit: £300
Group Size: 4
Fitness Level: Generally fit. The furthest walking distance is around 40 minutes from the car.
Join me for a winter photography workshop exploring the dramatic Atlantic coastline where North Devon meets North Cornwall.
This area is packed with rugged cliffs, sea stacks, wild beaches, lighthouses, folded rock formations and atmospheric coastal views. Based around the Bude / North Cornwall area, we’ll be well placed to explore locations across both sides of the Devon and Cornwall border.
Accommodation:
Stay in well-located accommodation with private rooms for each attendee. The accommodation will be chosen to give us good access to both the North Devon coast and the North Cornwall coastline, making it an ideal base for the workshop.
A light breakfast will be provided each morning, including basic cereals, toast, orange juice, coffee and hot drinks.
Lunches, dinners, snacks and meals out are not included in the workshop price.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we’ll have the option to eat back at the accommodation to help keep things relaxed and keep costs down. If the group would prefer to eat out on any of those evenings, that’s absolutely fine too and we can decide as we go.
Photography Opportunities:
The North Devon and North Cornwall coast offers some of the most dramatic seascape photography in the UK. Expect rugged cliffs, wave-worn rock formations, sea stacks, stormy beaches, lighthouses and big Atlantic skies.
During the workshop we’ll explore a mix of well-known and quieter coastal locations, with possible locations including Hartland Quay, Bedruthan Steps, Trevose Head Lighthouse, Widemouth Bay, Sandymouth Bay, Duckpool, Crackington Haven, Boscastle and other locations depending on the conditions.
February can be a fantastic time for coastal photography, with low winter light, dramatic weather, fewer people around and the chance of powerful seas. As always, the exact locations will be chosen around the weather, tides, wind direction and safety.
Workshop Itinerary:
Monday:
Check in at the accommodation
Sunset shoot
Dinner outing
Tuesday - Thursday:
Sunrise shoot
Return for breakfast or stop for breakfast/lunch depending on location and conditions
Photography through the day until sunset
Evening meal at the accommodation with some editing
Friday:
Check out of the accommodation
Sunrise shoot
Depart home after the sunrise shoot
The exact locations may change depending on weather, tide, light, access and conditions. The aim is always to put the group in the best places at the best times, rather than rigidly sticking to a fixed plan if conditions are better elsewhere.
Transport:
Transport is available from Norwich to the accommodation and back again at the end of the workshop.
During the main workshop days, Tuesday to Thursday, seats will be available in my van for travel between the accommodation and photography locations. Fuel for workshop travel is included, so you won’t need to drive between locations unless you prefer to use your own vehicle.
If you are making your own way to the accommodation, you’re still welcome to travel with the group during the workshop days.
Essential Photography Kit:
DSLR/CSC with batteries and memory cards
Spare batteries and memory cards
Wide-angle, mid-range, and zoom lenses
Sturdy tripod
Lens cleaning kit
Camera bag
Appropriate clothing for the weather
Waterproof coat and layers
Sturdy footwear
Umbrella
Torch or head torch
Bath towel
Note: I have spare landscape filters available and can assist with recommendations on purchasing.

Some locations involve walking on uneven coastal paths, beaches, rocky terrain, cliff-top areas and exposed locations. Safety is our top priority, with dynamic risk assessments carried out at all times.
