This small-group workshop is built around boats moored along the Norfolk shore, the surrounding coastal landscape and the changing light as the afternoon moves towards sunset. It is a chance to slow down, study the scene and produce a considered set of photographs rather than rush between viewpoints.
With no more than five guests, there is time for individual help throughout the session. I’ll work alongside you and help with camera settings, composition and making the most of the available light.
We’ll explore the boats, shoreline, wider coastal landscape and details that make the location distinctive. Reflections, textures, changing skies and the relationship between the boats and their surroundings will all give us different ways to approach the scene.
I’ll help with exposure, composition, filters, tripod technique and responding to changing coastal light. Tuition is adapted to your experience, so you can join whether you are learning the controls or refining an established approach.
The session runs from 11am until 4pm, giving us time to work through the afternoon and towards sunset. The precise plan will remain flexible around the weather, light and safe access. Final meeting information will be emailed to booked guests before the workshop.

• Loan of landscape filters if needed
Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera, charged batteries, spare batteries, memory cards, a useful range of lenses, a sturdy tripod, lens-cleaning kit, camera bag, suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy footwear and an umbrella or waterproofs if needed. I have spare landscape filters available to borrow.

This is an outdoor coastal workshop. The exact plan may change around the conditions and safe access. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to carry your equipment over the stated walking distance.
I am a full-time photographer based in Norfolk. I have worked commercially since 2011, hold a BA and a Master’s degree in Photography, and have been running photography workshops since 2013. My workshops are practical and relaxed, with small groups, no egos and plenty of individual help.
