Coast and mountain photography in North Wales

Join me for four days of landscape photography in Snowdonia and Anglesey, combining mountain scenery with the North Wales coast. We’ll work with the short winter days, changing light and weather to create a varied set of photographs, with time to concentrate on each location rather than rush through a fixed checklist.

With a maximum of four guests, there will be plenty of individual help with composition, exposure, filters and long exposures. The emphasis is on making thoughtful photographs and getting more confident with your camera in the field.

Who this workshop is for

This trip is best suited to photographers with a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO. You do not need to be an expert. I’ll help you make practical decisions as the light changes, whether you are refining your compositions or trying a technique you have not used before.

How the week will work

We’ll meet around midday on Monday for an introduction and our first afternoon of photography. Tuesday and Wednesday will be full workshop days, with locations chosen around the weather, available light and safe access. Thursday will include a final photography session before we finish and head home.

The itinerary will balance coastal and mountain scenery. Specific locations and timings may change with conditions; snow, clear skies and particular views cannot be guaranteed.

Accommodation and food

Three nights’ accommodation are included, with a private room for each guest. Breakfasts, packed lunches, evening meals, tea, coffee, water and planned snacks are included. Meals will be arranged around the photography schedule using the accommodation and suitable local cafés or pubs. Alcoholic drinks and additional food or drinks outside the planned meals are not included.

I’ll contact everyone before the trip about dietary requirements. Please contact me before booking if you have a severe allergy or a requirement that may need specialist preparation, so I can confirm what can be accommodated safely.

Travel and transport

Transport between workshop locations and fuel are included in my five-seat van. A return lift from Norwich may be available by prior arrangement; otherwise, meet us at the agreed accommodation or meeting point. Please confirm travel arrangements with me before booking onward transport.

Walking and winter conditions

Expect outdoor photography in cold, wet and potentially windy conditions. Paths may be muddy, uneven or slippery. Warm waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grip are essential.

Please contact me before booking if you have mobility or access requirements, so we can discuss the planned locations and whether the trip is suitable for you. Locations and timings will be adjusted when conditions require it.
