A week of landscape photography in Assynt

Join me for a week of landscape photography in Assynt and the wider north-west Highlands. We’ll work with mountains, lochs, remote beaches, rocky coastline and the rapidly changing autumn weather, choosing each day’s locations around the best available light.

Likely locations

Potential locations include Loch Assynt, Clachtoll, Loch Stack, Durness, Stoer Lighthouse, the Old Man of Stoer and a selection of quieter beaches and viewpoints. The exact itinerary remains flexible because conditions and safety come first.

Accommodation and food

We’ll stay in a comfortable lochside house with private rooms. Breakfasts, packed lunches, evening meals and snacks are included, apart from alcoholic drinks. I’ll send a menu before the trip so dietary requirements and preferences can be planned properly.

Getting there and transport

Transport between locations and fuel are included in my five-seat van. The van has 240V mains power for charging camera and drone batteries, plus a camping stove for tea and coffee between shoots.

Collection from Inverness can be arranged by prior agreement.

What is included

• Seven nights’ accommodation in a private room

• Breakfasts, packed lunches, evening meals and snacks

• Small-group photography tuition throughout the week

• Transport between workshop locations and fuel

• Collection from Inverness by prior agreement

• 240V charging facilities for camera and drone batteries in the van

• Loan of landscape filters or a tripod if needed

• Personal guidance throughout the trip

What is not included

• Alcoholic drinks

• Travel insurance, personal accident insurance or camera insurance

• Your own camera equipment and clothing

• Travel to Inverness or the agreed meeting point

What to bring

Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera, spare batteries and memory cards, a useful range of lenses, a sturdy tripod, lens-cleaning kit, warm waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear. Filters are useful, but I have a spare set available to borrow.

If you are not fully familiar with your camera, bring the manual or download it to your phone before travelling. Do not rely on having an internet connection while we are out.

Weather and flexibility

Assynt is remote, and November conditions can change quickly. Some locations involve uneven ground, exposed coast, muddy paths and longer walks. Locations and timings may be adjusted to make the best of the conditions and keep the group safe.

About Dibs

I am a full-time photographer based in Norfolk. I have worked commercially since 2011, hold a BA and a Master’s degree in Photography, and have been running photography workshops since 2013. My workshops are practical and relaxed, with small groups, no egos and plenty of individual help.

Each booking costs £1,295 per person and includes a private room. Choose full payment or pay a £350 deposit using the online payment plan.

With the online payment plan, the remaining £945 per person is scheduled for automatic collection on 14 September 2027, 60 days before the trip starts.
